In January 2023, Portugal Film school organised a free 2 week course for young people in Cape Verde, West Africa. 

It is difficult and expensive to get any kind of video training there. Young people lack opportunity and finance if they want to become a filmmaker. So we decided to offer a course at no cost. 

With a group of 5 students, we made a short film about the town of Tarrafal and its people on the island of Santiago, where the course was organised. The teachers were Ton van der Lee and Coco Belize Koldijk.

We worked together with the local community and the town council who helped us with facilities. We’d like to thank the Cape Green Foundation, too, who hosted the film course.
